THE AMERICAS CHAPTER OF THE IARLJ
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The Americas Chapter of the IARLJ includes all International Association of Refugee Law Judges members, in good standing, who are from North America, Central America and the Caribbean or South America. The Americas Chapter of the IARLJ will seek to address Americas-related asylum matters.
The Americas Chapter of the IARLJ will seek to further the Objects of the Association, as stated in the IARLJ Constitution, through the cooperation and the exchange of information and expertise on refugee law, procedures and decision-making among countries in the Americas.
The principal Objects of the Americas Chapter of the IARLJ will be:
(1) to seek to advance the professional development of its member judges and quasi-judicial decision-makers; and,
(2) to seek to expand and maintain its membership, and that of the IARLJ, to include all countries within the Americas; and,
(3) to seek to exchange expertise and best practices among all countries within the Americas.
The Americas Chapter will also seek to identify and analyse specific issues and jurisprudential developments relating to the region and to discuss the potential influence of developments from other jurisdictions.
The Americas Chapter of the IARLJ plans to meet in the years between the biennial World Conferences of the IARLJ.
