8th IARLJ World Conference
The IARLJ is delighted to invite you as a member of the Association to attend the 8th World Conference to be held in Cape Town on 28, 29 and 30 January 2009.
The contacts between members made at the biennial conferences are a central feature of the value of the Association.
The conference will be held at the Table Bay Hotel. This is a beautiful 5-star facility with a definite Cape Town atmosphere. The foyer of the Hotel faces Table Mountain in one direction and Robben Island in the other. It is located on the waterfront in the centre of Cape Town’s major tourist precinct. It has been chosen for these attributes, and also for the ample and comfortable facilities around the main conference room itself allowing for easy and pleasant interaction between delegates during breaks.
Please click here for the latest draft program. It has been designed with an overriding principle of allowing generous times for delegates to contribute to the sessions. We recognise that the delegates’ bring a great deal of experience and knowledge to the conference. It is important that the conference allows this experience and knowledge to be exchanged with other delegates.
The subjects of the sessions have been selected after extensive consultation with many members over the last few months. The sessions are designed to be relevant to members of the Association from all over the world and from every level of decision-making. As in the past, some sessions concern matters of technical jurisprudence, but, an innovation of this conference, is to include some sessions which explore big picture issues such as evolving circumstances including climate change and wealth disparity, which will shape the development of international protection in the future.
Green Route will be taking care of all your accommodation needs.
